Within the early years science will be included within the foundation stage curriculum. At key stage one, two and three science is taught following a rolling programme based on the EQUALS curriculum. Key Stage 4 and 5 pupils follow a course leading to the AQA entry level or unit award qualification.
In science we aim to:
Develop powers of observation and enquiry in order to increase each pupil’s knowledge of both their immediate and wider environment and how they and others function within these environments. This will be achieved by allowing our pupils to make full use of their senses in the understanding and development of basic scientific principles.
Develop the pupil’s enjoyment of science through making it fun and practical in a way that engages all our pupils.
Develop skills and understanding of the use of experimentation and investigation.
Encourage our pupils to transfer their scientist skills to other areas of their lives.
